Positive Social Psychology

My independent research thesis in collaboration with
Dr. Fred Bryant

“Knowing What You've Got Before It's Gone : The Impact of Imagined Loss on Gratitude"

I presented a poster at the American Psychological Association Conference in San Francisco.

All of these experiences left a strong impact on my world view

and my ability to ask the right questions.

Then I became captivated by a question . . .

How is coffee

grown, produced, roasted, and shipped around the world?

And can it be done sustainably?

My master’s thesis at the American University of Paris was titled

“Bitter Coffee : The Economic and Political Structures Supporting Unsustainable Development in Vietnam”

I wanted to understand how the industry worked and ask the question whether it is sustainable, and how it could become sustainable.

A few years, later we launched a social business in the Philippines to see what this looked like in practice.

Ten years later, we have shipped coffee all around the world. We have sold coffee to buyers such as Starbucks, Blue Bottle, Malango and others. We are recognized as some of the highest quality coffee from Southeast Asia.

But I would argue that while we built something environmentally sustainably,

it took too long for us to become economically sustainable.

During that time, I was forced to moved back to France.

I opened an event and coffee space, just before COVID shut us down.

I was at my personal best when I worked for an International School in Paris.
